Roll’d announces drone delivery deal with Wing
Drone delivery has always been part of the chain’s goals.
Customers in Logan, QLD and Gungahlin, Canberra can now get Vietnamese food from Roll’d via drones.
The Vietnamese chain announced it had teamed up with Wing, the company operated by Google-parent Alphabet, to deliver its banh mi (baguettes), bao (steamed buns), rice paper rolls and others via drones in the said areas. Wing also mentioned the partnership with the fast food chain through their official LinkedIn page.

“With efficient delivery within minutes, Roll’d orders can be placed via the Wing app and will be delivered by a remotely piloted custom drone to customers within a 10km radius of the delivery site,” the chain said in a statement issued to media.
Drone delivery has always been part of the chain’s goals, with founder Bao Hoang telling QSR Media in a 2020 interview that it wanted to provide drone-led services within five years.
“Being accessible is clearly where the future is going to be,” he said at that time. “So drones or driverless cars or, or whatever might be - robotics in the future...is going to be something that will be in play.”
