 
  Half of Australia’s top fast food locations are owned by three QSR brands
Subway still retains its position as Australia’s biggest chain.
Subway, McDonald’s, and KFC operate over half of all restaurants among Australia’s 10 largest quick-service chains, according to data from ScrapHero last updated on 8 October 2025.
Subway remains number one with 1,248 restaurants as of 10 September, and is considered the largest in seven out of eight states and territories.
The data has McDonald’s at 1,059 as of 21 October. The state and territory with the most McDonald's locations in Australia is New South Wales, with 334 restaurants, which is about 32% of all McDonald's restaurants in Australia.
KFC has 794 restaurants in Australia, located mostly in New South Wales, with 250 restaurants, which is about 31% of all KFC restaurants in Australia..
Coming in fourth place is Domino’s Pizza at 727, followed by Baker’s Delight at 519.
Making up the bottom five is Hungry Jack’s, Boost Juice, Red Rooster, Pie Face, and Zambrero.
