Fast food store growth up 25 in past three months to October: report
The report revealed 46 stores were opened whilst 21 stores closed.
Store expansion in the fast food and quick service restaurant industry continued across Australia in the past three months ending 1 October, resulting in a net change of 25 stores, GapMaps, a cloud-based location intelligence platform, shows in its latest report.
The GapMaps' Fast Food QSR Retail Network report tracked over 29 brands in 6,817 locations all over Australia. It showed that 46 stores were launched whilst 21 closed.
Amongst the brands tracked, Domino’s Pizza (+9), Guzman Y Gomez (+4), and Grill’d (+4) led store openings in the quarter, whilst Nando's (-3), Mad Mex (-3), and Chicken Treat (-3) recorded the most store closures.
At a state level, New South Wales posted the most store openings with 16, and Victoria recorded the most closures with seven.
Scott Johnson, a senior analyst of GapMaps, said there is still "strong store growth overall" despite 21 store closures.
“This report provides our customers with valuable insights into the changing competitive landscape in the fast food and quick service restaurant sector," he added.
