McDonald’s Australia CEO Antoni Martinez resigns
He has been with McDonald’s for two decades.
Antoni Martinez, CEO and managing director of McDonald’s Australia, has resigned after being with the brand for two decades across various roles in different countries.
In his LinkedIn post, Martinez said he aims to spend more time with his family and explore other opportunities outside of McDonald’s.
“I can still remember starting my first shift as a 15-year-old crew person in Victoria, a dream job after working in our family construction business that has been part of the McDonald’s System for over 40 years. I never imagined that I would have the privilege of becoming the CEO of both South Korea (2020-2022) and Australia (2022-2025). It has been a pleasure to serve over two million Aussies a day and lead our 120,000 exceptional employees and over 200 Franchisees,” Martinez wrote.
Meanwhile, Joe Chiczewski, McDonald’s Australia's Chief Restaurant Officer, will transition into the CEO and Managing Director role over the coming weeks.

Chiczewski joined McDonald’s Australia in September 2024 as Chief Restaurant Officer, following a successful career in the McDonald’s U.S. business.
Chiczewski joined McDonald’s in 2012 and has held several roles in strategy, finance, and operations. In his most recent role as Chief Restaurant Officer of McDonald’s Australia, Chiczewski is responsible for the operations of McDonald’s 1,000+ restaurants across Australia and New Zealand.
Before moving to Sydney with his wife and two young boys, Chiczewski held the position of Field Vice President of the Northeast United States, responsible for 1,500 restaurants.
