Homegrown talent Antoni Martinez is McDonald's Australia's new CEO
He will be re-joining his home base after a senior leadership stint at McDonald's Korea.
McDonald’s Australia today announced that Antoni Martinez will be taking over as CEO, effective 01 May 2022.
Martinez, an alumnus of McDonald’s Australia, is currently the managing director of McDonald’s Korea where he supervises the team with a continued emphasis on delivery and digital.
He started as a crew person in Melbourne in 2000, before moving into senior leadership roles, including development director of the southern region and market director for the southern region where he was responsible for operations, franchising and marketing for over 300 restaurants.
“I’m thrilled to be returning to McDonald’s Australia,” said Mr Martinez. “I stepped outside of the Australian market to gain valuable international experience and have watched with a great sense of homegrown pride the continued growth and innovation of the Australian business,” Martinez said.
Martinez will be taking on the role of current CEO Andrew Gregory, who will be moving to a global role as corporate senior vice president, global franchising officer, effective 01 May 2022.
Since joining McDonald's Australia in 1996, Gregory has worked his way up from crew member to chief financial officer to become the company's current CEO.
Under his leadership, McDonald's Australia has seen consistent and record growth in sales, profitability and market share, with coffee, delivery and digital sales among the most significant drivers of growth. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Australian business achieved strong growth by working closely with operators, suppliers, and stakeholders.
