Store expansion slowed in past three months: report

Of those tracked by GapMaps, Soul Origin, KFC and Schnitz lead openings

Store expansion in the QSR market slowed over the past three months to May 2022, according to new data from cloud-based location intelligence business GapMaps.

The company’s latest report, which tracked 27 leading brands, saw 29 openings in the past three months and 11 closures, resulting in a net change of 18.

Of those tracked, Soul Origin, KFC and Schnitz lead openings whilst Zambrero, Oporto and Nando's recorded the most store closures.

Over the last 12 months to May 2022, the tracked brands opened a total of 200 sites whilst closed 85.
