
Is cash dead in hospitality?
Oracle found that 64% expect to use less cash over the next five years when visiting a restaurant, coffee shop or bar.
More than half (60%) expect to use mobile payment more over the next five years in JAPAC. Nearly 2,300 consumers were surveyed in the JAPAC region (15,000 people globally) and the results show that JAPAC leads North America, EMEA and Latin America in its current use and expected use of mobile payments by 2022. It found that 64% of consumers expect to use less cash over the next five years when visiting a restaurant, coffee shop or bar, and 43% usually pay by mobile phone app or digital wallet when they visit a coffee shop or quick-service restaurant.
