McDonald’s plant-based burger comes to Australia for limited trial

Co-developed with Beyond Meat, the McPlant is made with a patty made from peas, rice, potatoes, and beetroot.

McDonald’s plant-based burger, dubbed the McPlant, has arrived in Australia for a limited trial.

From July 4 to November 1, the item will be available in 270 restaurants across Victoria, via the MyMacca’s app and McDelivery service.

Co-developed with Beyond Meat, the McPlant is made with a patty made from peas, rice, potatoes, and beetroot — served on a sesame seed bun with tomato, lettuce, pickles, onions, mayonnaise-style sauce, ketchup, mustard and a slice of American cheese.

“Macca’s is always testing new menu items and flavours, as part of its ongoing commitment to innovation and choice. The McPlant gives customers another delicious menu option, alongside their usual favourites,” the fast food chain said in an announcement.
