Max Brenner Australia bought by United Cinemas owner: report
The chocolate cafe chain entered into voluntary administration last October.
Max Brenner Australia has been reportedly sold to Roy Mustaca, the owner of United Cinemas in the country.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, BDO’s Andrew Sallway said that the Mustaca family "did not wish to comment on the purchase."
BDO was previously appointed as the liquidators for Max Brenner in Australia, which entered into voluntary administration after struggling with rent, finance and employment costs. Administrators closed 20 stores and put the remaining 17 ones for sale.
In a previous statement, BDO said explored a possible transaction with investment firm Tozer & Co but was not entered into.
Stephen Parbery and Peter Gothard of Ferrier Hodgson were also appointed as receivers over some assets of Max Brenner Australia.
