Collins Foods acquires 8 KFC restaurants in Germany
The group plans to open 90 restaurants in the next four years.
Brisbane-based restaurant operator Collins Foods Limited has announced the acquisition of eight KFC restaurants in Bavaria, accelerating its expansion in Germany.
The acquisition expands the group’s goal to open 45 to 90 restaurants across Baden-Württemberg, North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria over the next four years. This aligns with the group’s goal to establish Germany as its second growth pillar.
The group also extended its corporate franchise agreement with Yum! Brands, the owner of KFC, to 31 December 2029. Under the agreement, Yum! Brands will resume responsibility for marketing activities from 1 January 2027, with the Collins Foods marketing team transferred to Yum! Brands.
Meanwhile, Collins Foods will refocus on its core role as a restaurant operator whilst continuing to provide operational, IT, supply chain and sub-franchisee management services.
In its last trading update, Collins Foods reported an increase of 6.7% in total company sales, driven by KFC same-store sales growth in all markets for the first 18 weeks of FY2025.
