Mrs. Fields Managing Director participates in Vinnies CEO Sleepout
Managing Director, Andrew Benefield, slept on a piece of cardboard for one, cold night.
The act was done last June 16 to support the Vinnies CEO Sleepout; Rise to the Challenge. Benefiled said he redeveloped his gratitude and was hoping he could raise awareness for things people have taken for granted every night.
The Vinnies CEO Sleepout began in 2006 and has since raised important funds for Vinnies Homeless Services across Australia. The money has funded new projects and allowed the not-for-profit organisation to expand their projects assisting through crisis accommodation, domestic violence, life and counselling, legal advice and education.
“In raising money for this cause it signifies to realise what so many Australians don’t have. The cause resonated with me a few years ago with a few of our key stores located in areas where homelessness is very prevalent. There are over 100 000 Australians homeless and growing, the money can help benefit those who need assistance and provide access to the services they need,” said Mr Benefield.
“Doing the Winter Sleepout is also an important way integrate corporate responsibility and giving back to the community, not only in the Mrs. Fields family but also as a great challenge to fellow CEOs across Australia.”
The 2010 Rise to the Challenge CEO Winter Sleepout raised $2.9 million and attracted almost 700 CEOs across Australia. Donations are still open to be made to the 2011 Winter CEO Sleepout.
