Eagle Boys wins gold for new chocolate fudge mousse

Eagle Boys wins gold for new chocolate fudge mousse

Eagle Boys' new dessert has received a Gold Medal at the 2010 Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show.

Developed with Australian dessert producer Exquisine, the Eagle Boys’ Chocolate Fudge Mousse secured the accolade in the Dairy Dessert –Other Than Custard category.

The award means the dessert will now compete in the Australian Grand Dairy Awards later this year.

Eagle Boys Pizza Group Executive Marketing Christine Hooper said the award demonstrated how the company's non-pizza menu items were also fast gaining recognition.

"Two months ago, we launched the biggest revamp of the Eagle Boys menu in the company’s history, with 31 new items. Apart from new pizzas, the new menu items also desserts such as the Chocolate Fudge Mousse, pasta dishes, side dishes and drinks," she said.

"This industry recognition is testament to our focus on responding to customers' needs and developing a new menu which focuses on quality ingredients and unbeatable taste.

"In the past, entries from pizza chains have never progressed far. But despite being up against leading independent chefs and restaurants, our Chocolate Fudge Mousse has convinced judges it is among the best in its field."

Eagle Boys Pizza, one of Australia's largest pizza makers, is 100 percent Australian-owned and operates more than 305 franchised stores throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, the ACT and the Northern Territory. It employs more than 4,000 staff and makes more than 17 million pizzas a year.
