The sandwich chain says 50 tonnes of Chicken Classic fillets were consumed in 2018.
Four out of Subway’s top ten most popular flavours in 2018 are chicken-based, the company has revealed.
The chain’s Chicken Classic was the top menu option, followed by the Meatball Melt, Chicken Teriyaki, Chicken Schnitzel, Pizza Melt.
Rounding out the top ten are Ham, Italian B.M.T.. Steak & Cheese, Chicken Strips and Veggie Delite.
Subway says 8,500 kilometres worth of chicken subs were consumed in the last year.
“It’s clear Australians have a love-affair with the humble chicken sandwich. An incredible 50 tonnes of Chicken Classic fillets were chowed-down by Aussies last year,” Subway regional manager for public relations Amanda Templeton said. “Not only are our guests devoted to traditional chicken favourites, such as teriyaki, but they’re also jumping on-board our new flavour innovations, such as Buffalo Chicken with blue cheese dressing.”
