Boost Juice ramps up promotion with Bitcoin giveaway

One Bitcoin per week will be given away, starting February 19.

Boost Juice announced that it will be the world’s first retailer to give away Bitcoin, currently valued at over $14,500 each. Starting on the 19th of February, customers are invited to estimate the value of Bitcoin at 12 pm the following Monday through the brand app. The customer who makes the closest prediction walks away with the Bitcoin. Customer ranking is published in real time on the leader board in the app as well as in Boost Juice stores nationwide during the campaign.

The rollercoaster that is Bitcoin has been well documented in the media, adding to the fascination with cryptocurrency. “We're giving everyone a chance to go back to 2011 when Bitcoin was under $10. It's like a flux capacitor in a cup!” said Boost Juice’s chief technology innovation officer Christian McGilloway.

“This could potentially change a customer's life. Imagine if they keep it, what it could be worth in 5 years’ time.”

McGilloway added, “it's exciting that as a brand, we’re playing alongside our customers. We have no idea if we are giving away $8,000 or $28,000 next week.”

To make the giveaway a reality, Boost Juice partnered with Melbourne-based payment wallet CoinJar. CoinJar has facilitated over $1 billion worth of transactions.

“It’s exciting to see that a technology that was once just for people in the know is now making its way into the mainstream marketing mix. Boost Juice is really showing its roots as a brand that stays ahead of the curve,” Asher Tan, co-founder of CoinJar, said.

When asked what’s next, McGilloway said, “We are working hard on integrating cryptocurrency payment into our app in a way that offers a great customer experience. We had planned for this to go live with the campaign. However, miner fees have made Bitcoin in particular not viable for lower value purchases. We're working hard on accepting a digital currency and can't wait to release this to our customers.”
