According to BIS Shrapnel espresso coffee is the star performer in the fast food market as well as in other parts of the Australian foodservice market. Although carbonated soft drinks are still outpacing coffee as the most frequently bought beverage, espresso coffee has enjoyed a compound volume growth rate of 4.7% since 2008. On the other hand, the growth rate for regular as well as diet carbonated soft drinks shows signs of stagnation in the same time period. Interestingly, bottled still water is no longer as frequently purchased by consumers in the fast food market compared to four years ago.
