The move comes weeks after bringing back their Hot Wings.
Texas Chicken has launched its limited edition 8 Pepper Chicken, positioning it as their spiciest chicken offering to date.
The new item is coated in a spicy marinade that blends eight different types of chillies, including Thai Green Chilli, Red Chilli, Black Pepper, Chipotle, Szechuan, Habanero, Cayenne and Ancho.
Habaneros, in particular, are rated somewhere between 100,000 to 350,000 in the Scoville heat scale.
"We introduced a limited edition spicy chicken last winter, which was incredibly popular but a few customers did mention that it could have been hotter," explains New Zealand Country Manager, Allan Simons. "We went back to the drawing board and have come up with something that is at a completely different level.”
The 8 Pepper Chicken is available in all Texas Chicken New Zealand restaurants until supplies last.
