Rockpool Dining Group responds to $10m wage theft allegation
The company is accused of tampering with timesheet records to deny employees overtime entitlements.
Rockpool Dining Group (RDG) has denied allegations of underpaying staff millions of dollars and destroying pay records.
“RDG has no evidence to substantiate claims of group wide manipulation or destruction of data in order to intentionally underpay employees,” the company said in a statement.
Law firm Maurice Blackburn formally asked the Fair Work Ombudsman to prosecute Neil Perry's restaurant group after uncovering “one of the most egregious cases of wage theft Australia has seen yet.”
Hospo Voice instructed Maurice Blackburn to investigate and lodge the complaint on their behalf after receiving “numerous” complaints from current and former staff.
RDG, which owns the Burger Project, The Bavarian and Fratelli Famous fast casual restaurant brands, argues that it has not been provided with any submission by Maurice Blackburn and Hospo Voice.
“RDG also notes that Maurice Blackburn is currently acting in separate court proceedings on behalf of an ex-employee, and it is unclear whether the allegations that have been put to us are relevant to those proceedings. It is not appropriate to provide further comment on active matters,” the company’s statement added.
