World Hunger Relief 2012 raises over $760,000

World Hunger Relief is an initiative of KFC and Pizza Hut.

A total of 892 KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants have raised more than $760,000 in the sixth year of World Hunger Relief. Throughout September, customers were encouraged to make a donation to World Hunger Relief at KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants across the country.

Restaurant Managers and their teams rallied support by hosting car washes, bake sales, and gold coin donations to help raise money. Meanwhile KFC Managing Director, Tony Lowings thanked the restaurant teams and their local communities for supporting the World Hunger Relief 2012 fundraising activities.

“We live in one of the most generous nations in the world and each year, local communities come together to help their local KFC and Pizza Hut stores raise funds for this worthy cause,” he said.

To date, YUM! Restaurants Australia has raised more than $3 million for the UN World Food Programme. Internationally, YUM! has raised over U.S$115 million for hunger-fighting organisations and provided more than 460 million meals to those in urgent need of food assistance.
