RFG’s baristas go head to head in Espresso Perfecto Championships
More than 210 baristas will compete for the title.
This coming July, Retail Food Group (RFG) will be holding local heats for individuals and teams from the company’s different coffee brands—Michel’s Patisserie, BB’s Café, Esquires Coffee, and Donut King.
A total of 221 baristas across Australia and New Zealand have registered and will compete against each other to qualify for the National finals, to be held in September at RFG’s International Conference in Gold Coast.
The top three baristas from each heat will then move onto the State Finals, where the best barista from each state will be chosen to compete at the National Finals.
Participants are tasked to make three espressos, three cappuccinos, three lattes, and three ‘creative coffees’ in just 10 minutes.
According to RFG Director of Franchise and Espresso Perfecto Championships Director, Gary Alford, the competitors will be judged strictly on their accuracy and speed, the quality of the beverages, and the look and appeal of each drink served.
“We are excited to have more than 210 individuals and teams involved in this year’s event. Many of the entrants are competing in their first Espresso Perfecto Championships so it’s exciting to see so many talented Baristas among our coffee brands.
“The ultimate winner from this competition will be our customers who will continue to receive an improved coffee experience from our brands,” added Alford.
Aside from the title, the winner will also be given a choice of either a trip for two to Brazil, or $10,000 cash as the major prize.
