Vapiano to open first shopping centre location
Picks Westfield Garden City.
Vapiano has announced the opening of its newest location at the recently-relaunched Westfield Garden City in the suburb of Upper Mount Gravatt, south east of Brisbane.
The new location is set to open next week and will be 600 sqm, spreading across two floors with over 260 covers. It features an industrial looking shop front and the largest external terrace Vapiano has built in Australia, covering 180sqm. According to the chain, it has spent $2.4 million on the contemporary fit-out, which has taken 14 weeks to complete.
Will Cooke, owner of Vapiano in Australia, said opening a third restaurant in Queensland marks a significant milestone in the company’s five-year history: “Vapiano has a special connection with Queenslanders and it seemed only natural for us to open in Upper Mount Gravatt. Our Brisbane CBD and Surfers Paradise locations are hugely successful and we have the same high hopes for our first restaurant in the suburbs.”
Speaking about the decision to open in a shopping centre, Cooke added: “As our first shopping centre location we’ve decided to team up with Australia’s largest centre owner, Westfield, which has invested $400 million revamping Garden City, making it Queensland’s largest shopping centre. This decision will allow us to branch out of the CBD as our primary location base, and bring Vapiano to the suburbs, as shopping centre owners increasingly look to offer modern dining options to their customers.”
