Below is a Q&A with Roger Mussalli, Baskin-Robbins Australia General Manager.

QSR Media: What changes or improvements will the new management be implementing?

Mussalli: The overarching objective is to grow Baskin-Robbins’ presence across Australia, increasing the number of parlours to 280 in the next ten years.

The catalysts for this growth will be through working much more closely with franchisees, assisting them to provide greater rewards for customers, and thereby greater value for themselves.

The new management will also be introducing Baskin-Robbins’ best practices, as developed by the Dunkin’ Brands Group, Inc. and the Galadari Brothers Group. And we will also be introducing new products and services that will invigorate the entire industry.

QSR Media: Aside from increasing the store number of the brand, what other short and long term goals does the new management hope to achieve?

Mussalli: We have an incredibly exciting business plan for the short term, the medium term and for the next ten years.

Revealing the details of these plans without context would be like serving one of our favourite ice-cream flavours without a cup or cone. While delicious, it could be messy.

We are keeping our plans commercially confidential, as our undertakings will have a significant impact on the wider industry.

QSR Media: What else can customers look forward to from Baskin-Robbins by the end of the year?

Mussalli: Baskin-Robbins creates irresistible treats to make our customers smile and feel good inside and out.

Australians should look forward to us surprising them with more reasons to smile and feel good, and for more Australians to be able to enjoy what Baskin-Robbins is all about.

QSR Media: Any other comments?

Mussalli: Baskin-Robbins, as the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops, is taking responsibility to bring its innovation to Australia.

The Australian ice-cream sector is ready for an almighty shake up, and Baskin-Robbins is open to do that business.
