Guzman y Gomez opens first site in South Australia
The restaurant will have its usual trimmings, including cutlery, plates and table service.
The flagship store is located on King William Street, Adelaide, and will feature two levels, state-of-the-art design and high tech flourishes. With upstairs seating, the food will be transported via a dumbwaiter, and beacon table locators.
The move comes as part of Guzman y Gomez’s push to reinvent fast food for the 21st century and to meet overwhelming demand from local residents.
GYG’s founder Steven Marks said, “Our Facebook page has been inundated with people asking when we’ll open a store in South Australia — our customers have spoken and we’ve listened. We’re so pleased to be announcing the new GYG opening in Adelaide. We love our customers and can’t wait to bring our healthy Mexican to the fine people of South Australia. This is one of many up and coming developments we have in the pipeline, so, watch this space.”
The new store is in partnership with Peregrine Corporation who will work alongside GYG to manage the business.
Peregrine Corporation’s chief operating officer Peter Piliouras said, “We are very excited to be bringing the authentic Mexican taste of Guzman y Gomez to South Australia. We love the flavour and the fun of GYG and we are looking forward to sharing this with all Adelaidians. Our first location on the corner of King William Street and Hindley Street is perfect for anyone who wants to come and try this fresh and delicious Mexican food. We are proudly employing 50 South Australians at 33 King William Street, on top of the 1000 jobs that Peregrine Corporation has created in the last two years as well as the $100 million we have invested into the state.”
