Dubai-Founded Falafel Restaurant Expands to Australia

First stop, New South Wales.

Just Falafel opened its first shop in Australia this week, a 1,291 square-foot, 20-seater restaurant located in Parramatta, Sydney.

Founded in 2007 in Abu Dhabi, United Emirates, the chain mainly serves vegetarian menu items based on falafel, with the inclusion of french fries, hummus, dips, salads and desserts. As of early this year, the chain was reported to have a total of 55 stores in 13 countries, namely Canada, Turkey and United Kingdom, among others.

“Earlier this year Just Falafel announced an expansion into North America, and we are now thrilled to be expanding into the continent of Australia. The openings in Australia are a tremendous milestone for the company, and a great start what will be a very successful 2014. As a homegrown business from Dubai, we are looking forward to sharing fresh, healthy falafel with a diversity of people worldwide.” said Fadi Malas, Chief Executive Officer of Just Falafel.

Just Falafel has partnered with Sherkawi Group International, making additional franchising opportunities available in the rest of Australia as well as sub-franchising opportunities in Sydney and Melbourne.

The Sydney branch will feature a twist on its traditional menu, offering a local special. Aptly named  "The Australian," the local special will feature signature falafels topped with fruity mango salsa, fresh avocado, and crisp cucumber and lettuce.
