Canadian mega QSR unveils first ever store in Oz with Extreme Pita brand

It is located at King’s Cross, Sydney.

Extreme Pita, along with smoothie brand Purblendz, has finally landed in Australia, opening the doors of the brand’s first store in the country at King’s Cross, Sydney.

Both brands are under the MTY Food Group Inc. and have entered into a Master Franchise Agreement with Premium Brandz Pty Ltd for its Australia and New Zealand market.

Extreme Pita and Purblendz offer healthy alternative food and smoothie products to customers.

"We are proud to be partnering with MTY Group, Extreme Pita & Purblendz as they expand internationally.

"We think both brands have tremendous potential and look forward to growing them throughout the Australian & New Zealand markets," said Gary Blyton Director of Premium Brandz Pty Ltd.

Blyton also revealed that the brand's second store will be launched at the Macquarie Centre.

QSR Media: Week 1, How is it going?
Blyton:So far so good, we have had repeat customers which is the first thing I like to see. Obviously we are running in new systems so things take time but our team are handling things well. Locals are enjoying our food from our breakfast menu in the morning through to the early hours in this bustling location.

QSR Media: Has anything surprised you so far in the opening?
Blyton: I was surprised a little to see the lack of hesitation from people to jump in and try a pita having never seen or heard of one before!

QSR Media: What are the top 3 things you have learnt during this launch process?
Blyton: Training, training, training its best to over compensate here which has proven a winner.

More visuals, we need and will include more visuals to help people understand the product.

Don’t be afraid of the so called North American stigma, some people try and say Oh be careful of this interpretation and the so called anti North American feeling however this is not true at all. If you have a genuine healthy product suite that satisfies your guests across taste, nutrition and fulfilment then that’s all that matters.

QSR Media: Any other comments?
Blyton: Can’t wait to see store 2 open at The Macquarie Centre, in Ryde, Sydney this month. We have moved forward with a site at Southern Cross station in Melbourne set to open early 2014 so we are quite excited to head to Victoria.
