Zambrero smashes 450,000 meal target during annual Plate 4 Plate Day

The chain has now donated 34 million meals to date.

Zambrero has smashed its 450,000 meal target during their annual Plate 4 Plate Day earlier this month, packing 460,254 meals around Australia.

The initiative, which sees the Mexican chain donate a meal for every burrito or bowl purchased, will help people in need in Timor. Food surplus was given to Foodbank Australia.

“Our team recently travelled to South Africa for our Annual Vision Trip where we are able to see the meals being donated firsthand,” Zambrero CEO Bianca Azzopardi told QSR Media.

Aside from beating their meal target, Zambrero says the initiative was featured in over 30 press articles, which achieved a reach of over 23,500,000 potential customers.

Zambrero says it has donated 34 million meals to date. Azzopardi also teased “major plans” to reach their goal of donating 1 billion meals by 2025.
