Origin Kebabs now accepting bitcoin in four QLD stores
The chain chose to use the tech to “establish an innovative position” in the market.
Origin Kebabs has started accepting bitcoin payments at four of its Queensland stores, with more stores expected to adopt the technology.
Specifically, digital currencies such as bitcoin, Binance Coin, Ethereum, and Litecoin can now be used at the chain’s outlets in Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Westfield Chermside, Broadbeach, and Eagleby.
Also integrated into Origin Kebabs is the ability to pay on the Lightning Network, a payment channel built on Bitcoin technology allowing for secure and ultra-fast payments.

Origin Kebabs’ use of Binance Coin makes it the first major dining rollout to feature the new option since its appearance on the TravelbyBit payment system in December 2018.
“After learning about crypto, I knew I had to make it a part of our business. It’s a no-brainer to sign up with TravelbyBit. I am very excited that Origin Kebabs is going to be the first to adopt BNB payments at point of sale, following the launch of the new Binance chain,” Origin Kebabs general manager Burhan Göktas said in an announcement.
