Din Tai Fung closes Sydney outlet after rat video surfaces

The Taiwanese chain says they have "stringent food safety protocols" in place.

Din Tai Fung has closed its Westfield Sydney outlet after video of rat in their kitchen surfaced online.

"Din Tai Fung has in place stringent food safety protocols. We take this matter very seriously," the Taiwanese chain said in a statement.

The brand says they immediately activated pest control specialists and professional cleaners to inspect and disinfect the said outlet.

Din Tai Fung also said that they are conducting "thorough" investigations and improving measures in pest defence during post-operations hours.

"This is important as we already clean, disinfect and secure the kitchen on a daily basis, yet it's clear we can do even better," the statement added. "We apologise for the situation and would like to assure our customers that we are doing everything we can, together with Westfield Sydney, to address this."
