Macca’s announces big changes in burger recipe
The brand also saw the return of a favourite mascot to promote the change.
McDonald’s has announced several changes to its burger recipe which will now debut in the US after a successful trial in Australia, Canada, and Belgium.
In an announcement on 17 April, McDonald’s said that their chefs had been “cooking up small but tasty improvements to the Big Mac sandwich, McDouble burger and its classic Cheeseburger, Double Cheeseburger and Hamburger.
Some of the changes include softer, pillowy buns that are freshly toasted to a golden brown, perfectly melted cheese, adding juicier caramelized flavour by adding white onions to the patties whilst still on the grill and adding more sauce to the Big Mac.
“McDonald’s is always listening to customer feedback to ensure we are serving up hotter, juicier and tastier burgers for them to enjoy. We have been purchasing fresh produce, ingredients and products from Aussie farmers and suppliers for more than 50 years, like the wheat for our burger buns and muffins," a McDonald's Australia spokesperson said.
McDonald’s also brought back the Hamburglar to promote the new recipe.
McDonald’s expects the new burger recipes to be adopted in all of its restaurants worldwide by 2024.
