Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar breaks Guinness World Record with 46.6m long dessert pizza
The pizza brand successfully created the world’s largest dessert pizza on the Gold Coast.
The Guinness World Record attempt took place at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre’s forecourt, with hundreds of patrons as witness.
Crust General Manager Renee North said the team has been in training for months to deliver the world record smashing pizza.
“We custom made 50 pizza trays for the attempt, as well as a 50 metre gravity conveyor so we were able to move the pizza through the oven,” she said.
“We’ve had 20 staff members on hand throughout the day for a total of 16 hours of preparation and cooking, and of course serving the pizza up to the public!”
The record breaking pizza weighed in at 120kgs and has successfully measured 46.6 metres in length and 20 square metres – almost the same distance of an Olympic swimming pool.
North said the Cinnamon Crumble was specially crafted for the attempt combining ingredients from two popular house cooked desserts; the Black Forest Crumble and Hot Sticky Cinnamon Buns.
“The Crust team did an amazing job today and all worked extremely hard to achieve this result, we are also very thankful to the public for their support,” she said.
“We served up 2,000 slices of pizza to the public and what the public could not conquer, we donated to food rescue charity OzHarvest, who will be serving the slices to local charities who feed the community’s hungry and homeless.”
The previous record was held by the Record Pizza Men team from Italy.
