Subway US will now measure its footlongs
Following a lawsuit accusing the chain of serving sandwiches smaller than advertised, Subway agreed to measure its 6-inch and 12-inch subs.
Doctor’s Associates Inc. (DAI), the franchisor of Subway Sandwich Shops, announced a settlement has been proposed in a class action lawsuit about the marketing of Six Inch and Footlong Subway sandwiches.
"In settlement, DAI has agreed to certain practice changes for the benefit of all Subway® customers and to pay attorney’s fees and class representative service awards," the company said.
As part of the proposal, Subway will issue protocols to mandate that sandwiches must measure the full 12 inches.
"A federal court must approve the settlement before it becomes final. The Court has scheduled a Settlement Fairness Hearing for January 15, 2016 and set December 16, 2015 as the deadline for filing objections to the settlement," the company said.
