Guzman y Gomez makes U.S. debut with Illinois store launch

The flagship U.S. store, based in a Naperville suburb, is the chain’s 135th overall store.

Guzman y Gomez officially entered the U.S. market with the opening of its debut store in Illinois.

The flagship U.S. store, based in a Naperville suburb, is also the chain’s 135th total store.

Founders Steven Marks and Robert Hazan, both native New Yorkers, hailed the city as “one of the best places to live in the U.S.”

“We intend on opening hundreds, if not thousands of GYG locations across the U.S. and, while this won’t be our last, I want our very first in Naperville to be the one everyone knows about and visits,” Marks said in a media release.

In 2018, the chain secured AU$44 million in investment from TDM Growth Partners to accelerate local and international growth.
