Over 130 KFC stores roll out new recycling bins
KFC participates in “Do the Right Things, Use the Right Bin” project.
KFC Australia has joined the Do the Right Thing, Use the Right Bin project, a national recycling initiative towards environmental improvements. This project is a partnership between the Australian Food and Grocery Council’s Packaging Stewardship Forum, the National Packaging Covenant Industry Association, Closed Loop Environmental Solutions, KFC, and Pizza Hut.
Chief Supply Chain Officer at KFC Australia, Michael Clark, expressed the brand’s excitement in participating in the project, saying, “Thanks to the Australian Packaging Covenant and industry and government partners, KFC is able to provide more opportunities for our customers to feel ‘so good’ about the environmental solution.
Last year, nationally we diverted over 1,800 tonnes of cardboard, bottles and cans from landfill through our Closed Loop Recycling Program, the first national Public Place Recycling Program of its kind in the quick service restaurant industry.”
KFC stands as the first QSR to participate in this initiative. The brand has already successfully installed more than 130 new recycling systems in New South Wales and South Australia. Most recently, an additional of 48 recycling systems was also introduced in KFC restaurants in Victoria.
