How they hit the $1 million milestone Go! Sushi spills the beans
More store openings and an enhanced menu on the way.
Last week we reported on Go! Sushi hitting the million dollar sales mark in December . We followed up with Kate McMahon, National Marketing Manager of parent company Pacific Retail Management to ask about the secrets of their success and their plans for 2014.
QSR Media: What were the key factors and strategies to attaining the $1 mill sales target?
Mahon:
Strong branding
· Hard work from franchise partners
· Promotions to drive sales
· A nice hot summer
QSR Media: What are the next milestones you hope to achieve?
Mahon:
· To match great franchise partners with great sites
· Look to beat December's 6% growth rate, and grow sales year on year
· Implement compelling marketing campaigns to help drive sales and brand awareness
QSR Media: What are your expectations for store openings in 2014?
Mahon:
· We hope to open 10 stores across the PRM group this year, of those 7 or 8 will be Go Sushi or back to back Go Sushi & Kick Juice stores and the rest Wasabi Warriors
· Working to acquire great sites and extending our reach into regional hubs that previously may not have even had sushi
QSR Media: Sushi seems like a fairly well understood food type- what do you do to make yours different? Can we expect product innovation in 2014? If so, what?
· As consumers become more aware of the nutritional choices they’re making, and the trend towards healthier food that nourishes the body, Go Sushi has been experimenting with different superfoods to incorporate into their menu.
