Burgertory CEO resigns
The CEO said he has been the subject of ‘targeted attacks'.
Hash Tayeh, CEO of Burgertory and QSR Collective, has announced his resignation.
According to Tayeh’s Instagram post, he has been subjected to targeted attacks, politically motivated smears, and ongoing harassment.
Tayeh has been vocal in his support for Palestinians, both at protests and online.
“While I will never apologise for my activism or my voice, I cannot allow these attacks to become collateral damage for the people who’ve helped build this empire, the franchisees, the staff, the investors, and the suppliers,” Tayeh said.
Tayeh also said that he was not stepping away from the game but stepping into a new arena by focusing on mentoring other entrepreneurs.
“Equally, I’ll be giving full attention to fighting the legal I’ve been forced into for daring to speak the truth in a so-called democratic nation,” Tayeh.
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported that the Australian Taxation Office has issued notices holding Hash Tayeh personally liable for $1m in tax debts linked to 12 companies where he previously served as director.
