Guzman y Gomez ANZ CEO Mark Hawthorne steps down
He held the job for four years.
Guzman y Gomez CEO for Australia and New Zealand Mark Hawthorne announced that he has stepped down from the role, a position he held since 2015.
“Seems like yesterday that I began with GYG founders Steven Marks & Robert Hazan. In that time, we've doubled restaurant numbers & more than doubled sales, office staff & franchisees. Initially, Steven’s main focus was to grow GYG in more countries which now include Singapore, Japan & soon the USA, & my focus was GYG Australia. With our progress, GYG has decided to focus 100% on the opportunity in current markets only. This meant GYG can now revert back to Steven as the one CEO,” he said in a LinkedIn post.
Hawthorne added that there are “[e]xciting times ahead” for the Mexican brand, with Guy Russo now being the chain’s chairman.
“After K-Mart & Target, Guy has time to be actively involved, which is a privilege for GYG. An outstanding combination moving forward of Australia’s best retailer in Guy working with the most inspiring entrepreneur in Steven,” he said.
