Lower spending appetitie was blamed.

The fast food chain reported that due to the lower levels of spending in the country and the ‘cut-throat’ competition, the company’s revenue was slashed.
Don Thompson, McDonald’s Global Chief Executive and President, said "Australia is another one of those markets that at this point in time we see from their perspective you're seeing some softer – clearly a softer economy."
