Food trucks get support with ‘Where The Truck' app

The app’s new features enable food trucks to safely serve local communities during the lockdown.

Australian Mobile Food Vendors Group (AMFVG) announced new features for its ‘Where The Truck’ app, allowing food trucks nationally to service customers safely during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The new updates will allow customers to locate their nearest food truck, place and pay orders via the app with food trucks directly, arrange for either pick up (using a mobile drive through service) or a drop off delivery, with social distancing measures kept in place.

Users can also arrange a ‘Food Truck in my street’, where a food truck can be booked to cook and deliver directly.

The move is expected to assist trucks in getting back to business whilst abiding by social distancing rules and enables them to service areas and communities traditional restaurants and delivery services are unable to reach.

“Across Australia we’ve seen hospitality businesses pivot to survive and we wanted to enable our members to do the same. Food truck operators have been hard hit, as up until now the business model was entirely reliant on walk-in custom. Our new ‘Where The Truck’ features change that,” Frank Rusitovski, AMFVG Director, said.

“With an estimated 5000 food truck businesses across the country – who up until now have had limited means to support themselves and their families – we’re proud to have
developed a solution for them, as well as communities that up until now have been cut off from being able to enjoy a takeaway meal.”
