Below is a Q&A with Chris Churchmichael, Managing Director of Pizza Capers.

QSR Media: Tell us more about the new pizza categories

Chris: The new Pizza Capers menu sees us introduce four new pizza categories to our customers; Artisan Handcrafted Pizzas, Traditional Pizzas, Capers Collection and Black Label. The Artisan Handcrafted Pizzas range is made up of five single serve pizzas designed to be a gourmet meal for one, made on a handcrafted thin base and topped with a generous serve of traditional ingredients – it’s a perfect lunch option at $9.95.

The Traditional Pizzas are our generously topped versions of pizza classics, featuring the Hawaiian, Capricciosa, Margherita, BBQ Chicken and Aussie and priced at $12.95. This category offers a brand new layer of value to our menu which makes Pizza Capers a more accessible choice for a wider range of customers.

Then we have our Capers Collection, which is made up of our signature pizzas and generously topped with premium quality ingredients, and the Black Label, our top of the range extra amazing pizzas. There is really something for everyone on this new menu.

QSR Media: What pushed the brand to undergo this big change in its menu?

Chris: Pizza Capers is well known for our award winning quality, premium ingredients, gourmet flavours and generosity of toppings, and now our menu delivers even better value for customers. We researched what our customers wanted and found that value came from more than just more than just price – it’s about delivery on the promise of quality, taste, generosity and service.

QSR Media: What makes the new menu stand out?

Chris: We think the stand out for customers on this new menu will be the new layer of value we have given them through the Traditional Pizzas and Artisan Handcrafted Pizzas range. People looking for an award winning pizza experience that provides premium taste and an abundance of toppings can now get mouth-watering gourmet pizzas like the Capricciosa, Margherita or BBQ Chicken for $12.95.

QSR Media: So far, how have customers responded to the new pizza and salad options?

Chris: Since launching the new menu transactions and store level feedback have been positive due to the new flavour combinations available and the introduction of new value for money pizza categories.

With over half of the menu now consisting of new items and the removal of some ingredients and pizzas and a base of hugely loyal customers, we have had some feedback from fans who miss their old favourite but many appear to be using the change as an opportunity to discover something new on the menu.

We plan to continue to monitor the feedback coming in to ensure as we continue to evolve the menu their wants and needs are being met.

QSR Media: Will we expect more innovation in the coming months?

Chris: We pride ourselves on innovation; we are always monitoring feedback from our customers and constantly evaluating trends in the industry. Additional and exciting new offers for our loyal customers and enticing new customers is always our focus, and innovation is central to that.
