Promotion of the Month - Oporto debuts new ‘Fully Loaded Box’

It will be available for a limited time only.

Oporto recently introduced their new ‘Fully Loaded Box’ promo. The new bundle deal is packed with a single fillet Bondi Burger, a fresh-grilled RappSnacker, two Bondi Bites, Potato Bites, a small order of chips, and one of the brand’s signature sauces.

The new promo deal is priced at $9.98, and will be available only for a limited period of time.

Below is a Q&A with Jason Piggott, National Marketing Manager of Oporto.

QSR Media: What pushed the brand to come up with the ‘Fully Loaded Box’ promo?

Jason: We know that deals and special offers influence QSR visits and thus the challenge for all QSR’s in a highly competitive retail environment is to continually find new news to keep customers coming back for more. At Oporto, our Mega Bite Meal Deal has been historically very strong for us in terms of driving transactions and we identified an opportunity to re-engineer this offer to deliver the best offer yet to new, lapsed and existing core Oporto customers.

The ‘Fully Loaded Box’ promotion delivers strongly on ‘value for money’ and ‘variety of food’ for the price –and therefore is fundamentally designed to deliver increased visitations for our franchisees and shift consumer perceptions around these cues.

QSR Media: What is the reason for putting together all these menu items in one box?

Jason: Customers talk to us about their ‘hunger fear’, of finishing their meal and feeling that the meal will not sustain them through the day – and this is probably why our fresh-grilled double and triple fillet burgers have been so successful! But with the introduction of our new and improved, 30% larger Bondi Bites™ and new lines such as the Potato Bites we identified a real opportunity for consumers to conquer their hunger fears, fill-up on all the Oporto good stuff and walk away satisfied (and at $9.98 without breaking the bank).

QSR Media: How will this new promo fare in the competitive market?

Jason: With the major competitors playing in the price-value space with $2 menu’s the opportunity to drive transactions and sales by playing to our strength of the Bondi Burger™ and delivering value with the ‘Fully Loaded Box’ will ensure that we win in the short-term with a strong bundle offer and in the longer-term by introducing customers to add-on items to their meals such as our Bondi Bites™ or Potato Bites.

QSR Media: How have your customers responded to this new promo?

Jason: The feedback has been exceptional; customers not only love the value offered by the bundle deal – but the variety from the original Bondi Burger™ and RappSnacker™ through to the Bondi Bites™ and Potato Bites has allowed them to get a taste for the rest of our menu. From a sales perspective this bundle deal is mixing strongly and is particularly strong in the lunchtime day-part.

QSR Media: Any other comments?

Jason: After the strong opening of our first store in Perth (at South Perth) and with the pending opening of our second store at Bentley we wanted to be able to offer consumers the ultimate sampling box so they could taste the full variety of the Oporto offering from day one and discover their very own Oporto favourites to keep coming back for.
