Zambrero sends representative to Nicaragua
Makes sure meals are distributed.
A representative from the Mexican chain recently flew over to Nicaragua to visit partner communities and see to the distribution of the meals they fund through their Plate 4 Plate initiative.
The objective of the four-day vision trip (27-30 March) was to visit beneficiaries of the Plate 4 Plate meals and see the impact on local communities. Zambrero’s distribution partner, Stop Hunger Now, works with in-country partners to provide food, health and education support to sustain communities in over 65 countries.
“Nicaragua is the poorest country in Central America. Forty-two per cent of the population live below the poverty line, child homelessness and abandonment are major issues, and the World Bank estimates that between eight to 12 per cent of all children in Nicaragua live or work on the streets. Stop Hunger Now has worked tirelessly in Nicaragua since 2009 to grow the reach of its feeding centres, reducing malnutrition in children from 26% down to 12%,” said Dr. Sam Prince, founder of Zambrero.
Throughout the year, the chain, with 47 locations around the country, donates a meal to someone in need every time customers purchase a burrito or bowl. According to the chain, since being formed by Dr. Sam Prince in 2005, more than two million meals have been provided to those living in poverty around the world.
