Kane Bodiam is recently appointed as Gloria Jean's Global Drinks Director.
Previously an Espresso Technical Espert at Douwe Egberts, Kane's coffee experience roots from his career as a coffee entrepreneur in 2002.
Of his appointment as Gloria Jean’s Coffees Global Drinks Development Manager, Kane said “My passion for coffee stems from working in my mother’s restaurant at the age of 12. My lifelong ambition is to create the perfect espresso, which led me to this role at Gloria Jean’s Coffees because of their commitment to serving the highest, handcrafted quality coffee. I have no doubt my new role will help me to achieve this."
Matthew Button, Global Creative Director commented “It gives me great pleasure to welcome Kane to the team. He has extensive experience in the coffee and hospitality industry, as well as a mechanical and engineering background, and this role creatively moulds both passions together. “
A founder of two companies, a coffee school, and the National Barista Academy and Brutal Fabrication, Kane will be on the judging panel for The Cup of Excellence, the most esteemed award given in the coffee industry internationally, and will be among a select group of international cuppers to judge the competition, taking place this year in Rwanda.
At Brutal Fabrication, Kane was heavily involved in both design and innovation, developing a robust understanding of how to manipulate coffee and its properties to achieve results that were highly innovative in the industry. In 2002, Kane expanded into coffee roasting and servicing, with clients such as Vittoria, Primo, Belaroma and ECM.
