Gelatissimo all set for World Gelato Tour
The best gelato artisans In the continent will go head-to-head.
The Gelato World Tour, an international competition organized by “Sigep”—the annual gelato trade fair held in Rimini, and Carpigiani Gelato University, will be held in eight different cities across the globe.
Gelatissimo has been selected to compete in the third stage of the Gelato World Tour, which will be held at Argyle Place South Melbourne, on the 25th to 27th October 2013.
The brand appointed Anna Temellini, to create “The Italian Immigrant” flavour, which will be the finalist for this stage of the competition.
““Since she joined us, Anna has created some stunning flavour combinations for our customers but I believe that ‘The Italian Immigrant’ is one of her best. Being named as a finalist in the Gelato World Tour is a huge honour for Gelatissimo and is further proof that Anna’s creativity is one our company’s greatest assets,” said Domenico Lopresti, joint CEO of Gelatissimo.
According to the brand, the new signature flavour is inspired by the Lopresti Family’s story, as they immigrated from Italy to Australia, bringing with them their family’s recipes and and culinary traditions.
The new flavour is a combination of macadamia gelato, macadamia nuts, salted caramelized milk and Italian Biscotti.
A total of sixteen gelato artisans will be battling it out to be the top three finalists for the Oceania leg of the tour. The top three finalists will be sent to Rimini Italy on September 2014, where they will compete against the other winners from the competition legs, for the title of “World’s Best Gelato” in the tour’s grand finale.
A team of experts and trade associations evaluated the entries in the early stages of the competition, and determined the top sixteen gelato artisans in the region. The entries were ranked based on the visitors and the technical judges’ votes, both meriting a weight of 50%.
Included in the panel of judges this year is Australian Chef and owner of Grossi Restaurants, Guy Grossi, and Adam Liaw, winner of Masterchef Australia 2010.
