Eagle Boys employees log 6,645 learning hours online

14 students have formally completed a Diploma qualification from Eagle Boys Pizza’s online training college.

Eagle Boys Pizza’s dedicated online training college has welcomed its 230th student a year after it opened to help franchisees and staff at Australia’s second largest pizza franchise continue their education and upgrade their skills.

Launched in October 2010, the Eagle Boys Pizza Online Training College offers a range of training modules, from store operations courses and accredited Certificate II in Hospitality through to a Diploma of Management.

To date Eagle Boys employees have effectively logged 6,645 learning hours online, and 14 students have formally completed a Diploma qualification.

Eagle Boys Pizza CEO Todd Clayton said the new online college had helped to not only equip franchisees and staff with the best industry skills possible, but also drive consistency, customer service and profitability across the Eagle Boys network.

“When we launched the Online Training College we became the first major Australian pizza chain to do so. Given more than a fifth of higher education is completed online and the geographic spread of our stores, it made sense to take advantage of online training,” he said.

“During the past 12 months, the college has helped to make staff aware of the professional development opportunities available within the business.

“Eagle Boys prides itself on offering tailored career paths to its franchisees and employees. We have had a dedicated Training Department for a number of years and creating an Online Training College was the next logical step.

“As they enter our stores, we ensure all staff are well-equipped to provide superior customer service. For franchisees, this includes spending a number of weeks learning the ropes at a dedicated training store before transitioning to their own store under the eagle eye of a Training Department coach for the first few weeks of trade.”

Eagle Boys Cannonvale store owner Jake Rose began his career at Eagle Boys as a kitchen hand. After taking advantage of Eagle Boys’ training during the past decade, he is now a franchisee.

“I started out as a 14-year-old kitchen hand at Eagle Boys Bowen making pizzas, and with Eagle Boys’ support, within three years I had worked my way up to Shift Supervisor at the store and Store Manager by age 18,” Jake said.

“Last year at the age of 22 I moved to the Training Department at National Office in the position of Field Support Officer helping to develop new training methods and documentation, train new staff and franchisees as new stores opened, and work with existing store employees to enhance their developed skills.

“I’ve now been a part of Eagle Boys for more than nine years and having trained so many new employees, it seemed natural to make the progression to owning my own store.

“Eagle Boys is a fun, vibrant, rapidly expanding company that offers support, guidance and assistance to all its franchisees and employees every step of the way.”

With the approach of some of the biggest pizza selling times of the year, including the festive season, Eagle Boys is looking to fill over job vacancies to help stores keep up with demand.

All necessary training is provided, so those interested in starting a career with one of the country’s largest franchise networks are invited to drop their resume into their local Eagle Boys store.
