According to IBIS World’s report on “Fast Food Services in Australia” published last May 2013, Burgers present the largest share of revenue amongst the various products offered in the market.
The report showed that burgers account for 26% of the share of revenue, followed by pizza accounting for 19.8% and chicken, with 15.6%.
These top three products dominate the market, backed up by big industry players such as McDonald’s, KFC, and Hungry Jack’s.
With consumers shifting to healthier meal options, sandwiches, salads, and juice bars rank fourth in the market segmentation accounting for 13.3%.
Ethnic fast food is also gaining popularity amongst consumers, following sandwiches and salads, delivering a 10.3% share of revenue.
These are then followed by the desserts and confectionary products delivering 8.3%, Pies, sausage rolls, pasties and fish and chips with 5.4%, and lastly, mobile food vans with 1.3%.
