Chatime on their 80% growth and ambitious Aust wide plans
Iris Qian, Head of Franchise Business for Chatime tells us what differentiates them and what their plans are for the future.
QSR Media: Chatime, tell us about it?
Iris: Chatime is an international franchise with over 500 stores worldwide. Founded in Taiwan in 2003, the company launched in Australia in 2009 and has quickly grown to 42 outlets located across the country. They pride themselves on their authentic fresh tea offering using innovative brewing technology and are rapidly becoming known as the fresh tea specialist,
QSR Media: Who are your customers?
Iris: Chatime’s customers are tea lovers of all ages.
QSR Media: What makes you different from your competitors in the tea-indulgence category?
Iris: We have modernised the traditional Taiwanese tea culture by combining 30 years of tea production experience and a team of professional tea testers. We employ state-of-the-art technology and use the highest quality ingredients to deliver an authentic fresh tea experience. Chatime’s unique Tea Espresso and Tea Latte are both original Chatime techniques that can be drunk fresh or with milk. These styles are often related to coffee however Chatime has cleverly transformed the latte and espresso methods to embrace the growing tea movement.
QSR Media: Tell us a bit more about your franchise expansion plans?
Iris: Chatime is experiencing exceptional growth at a rate of more than 80% during the past two years despite the global financial crisis and is currently one of Australia’s fastest growing franchises. With stores already in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA, we are looking for franchisees in the WA market.
QSR Media: What kind of initiatives do you have planned with the recent appointment of Horizon as your PR agency?
Iris: We are looking forward to working with Horizon to help us educate consumers about Chatime’s fresh tea offering and our unique brewing methods. They are also assisting us with raising awareness for our business and help drive new franchisees.
