QSR Media: What makes you excited about your position?
Filipe Barbosa: I love the dynamic nature of the role at Gelatissimo, and the constant evolution of the industry we play in. It’s always changing and makes the day to day a little more interesting and sometimes challenging!
QSR Media: What are your key business philosophies?
Barbosa: I believe it’s important to lead from the front. Only make decisions on behalf of others if you would make them for yourself.
I always look at the basic fundamentals of any opportunity and I don’t let myself get emotionally connected as it impacts negatively on my judgement of the bigger picture.
QSR Media: What three goals are you focused on?
Barbosa:
- Improving the profitability of the franchisees.
- Expanding store numbers in Australia with a focus on WA and regional areas.
- To successfully enter into one new international market within 12 months
QSR Media: What long-term changes are you planning on?
Barbosa: There are no significant changes in the pipeline – our core focus at the moment is on refining what we already do, see if anything can be done better, and to implement any necessary updates, improvements or changes.
QSR Media: What previous positions have prepared you for this one and how?
Barbosa: I have been involved with Gelatissimo for years, at all levels, from store management and upwards.
The diversity of these roles has been a sound foundation for my current position and every one has given me a deeper knowledge, and the necessary skills and insights to manage the business in the most effective and efficient way possible.
