Below is a Q&A with Michael Standley, Noodle Box’s National Franchise Development Manager.

QSR Media: What do you look for in a potential franchise partner?

Standley: We are looking for passionate dedicated Franchise Partners who want to become part of a united team focussed on delivering a guest experience that is second to none. Committed to excellence and innovation our Franchise Partner relationships are built on integrity, respect and trust.

QSR Media: What's your plan to attract franchisees in WA?

Standley: We have commenced a digital campaign attracting potential Franchise Partners who are looking to invest in this market.

This campaign targets web sites that are frequented by investors who are interested in franchising within the QSR market. We are also advertising in more traditional mediums such as Franchising magazines both print and online.

QSR Media: Tell us more about the new store design to be unveiled, and what inspired it?

Standley: The Noodle Box re-design has pared down the interior concept just to the vital 'design ingredients'.

Moving away from the current conformist trend of using timber throughout, the new design has returned to a stylish and sleek reinterpretation of red and black elements whilst maintaining texture through the clever use of materials.

The result is a tighter brand-conscious fit-out without losing the village feel we obtained in our first restaurant in 1996. The open Kitchen remains a major focus and provides "the theatre" around our food preparation.

QSR Media: Where else do you see growth?

Standley: Perth and regional WA obviously offer huge opportunities for the brand. Our focus initially is on the greater Perth area building brand awareness in this great State to complement our 70 plus restaurants in Australia.

We are also adding to our 40 plus restaurants in Queensland this year. The brand is well known here and many of our existing Franchise Partners are looking to add to their portfolio with a second, third, or fourth restaurant. We will also focus on NSW, moving into 2014, regionally and into the greater Sydney market.

QSR Media: Any other comments?

Standley: Our goal is to be the first choice noodle base restaurant concept in every market in which we operate. We are expanding domestically and internationally with further restaurants opening in Mauritius and we are operating under a Master arrangement in the United Arab Emirates.

We have worked hard to lower our entry costs and our Operations Team is focussed on ongoing Franchise Partner profitability. We remain in a competitive marketplace with many QSR brands competing for the guest's dollar.

The Noodle Box brand represents excellent value for money and a quality of our food is fantastic. Healthy, fresh and fast, made right in front of you by friendly trained Team Members in a relaxed atmosphere – it doesn't get tastier than that.
