Below is a Q&A with Giro Maurici, Founder of San Churro.
QSR Media: What was the brand's secret to the recent success in sales revenue?
Maurici: A combination of a refined retail offering, new seasonal menus, larger store formats as well as new store openings, and of course - delicious product!
QSR Media: What factors in the brand's retail offering and seasonal menu makes it stand out in the industry?
Maurici: All of our products are based on couverture chocolate, which is REAL chocolate, that offers our customers a decadent experience. In terms of our seasonal menus, again it's all about the taste! For example we recently introduced our Banana Caramel Cup, which is made up of layers of banana, caramel, milk chocolate and fresh churros pieces, which is selling like hotcakes.
QSR Media: Where else do you see growth?
Maurici: Our main focus at the moment is utilising the best sites in Australia, we are currently looking for energetic, hands-on franchisees to partner with.
QSR Media: What markets or areas would you like to expand to?
Maurici: We are specifically looking to open stores in VIC, QLD and NSW, but are open to opportunities in other areas, as long as the site is a great spot, we're very specific about where we open our chocolaterias. We recently opened a chocolateria in Wollongong and it's been incredibly well received, so we're hoping to open more stores in large regional centres such as Geelong. We're also keen to explore opportunities in Tasmania and the ACT.
QSR Media: What are the top three things that the brand will continue doing to deliver this kind of success in the future?
Maurici: Great products, great service and a great experience.
