The chain's supermarket sauces continue to grow in sales, plans to invest and innovate more.
"Chilli sauce is definitely a growing trend in Australia. In 2014, the total sauce category in supermarkets grew 2.6%, the chilli segment grew by 13.5%. Nando’s PERi-PERi Sauces experienced an incredible 30% growth," Tim Paton, Nando's Marketing Manager told QSR Media.
"As consumers become more confident exploring foods, and in turn heat levels, they are also demanding flavour alternatives for everyday meals at home." He added that Nando's plans to continue to lead this trend with its extensive range of Nando’s PERi-PERi products and educate Australians on usage.
"Our variety of heat levels means everyone – from the flavour seekers through to hard-core chilli fans – can jump on the trend."
He also noted that Nando’s PERi-PERi is the fastest growing condiment and dominates the chilli sauce category because of the brand's ability to introduce new users.
"We’re the all-inclusive sauce, allowing consumers to explore their heat level from Mild through to Extra Bloody Hot. Nando’s PERi-PERi Sauce is the core category of our grocery business, so we will continue to invest and innovate. Nando’s PERi-PERi has over 12 different products available through major and independent supermarkets nationally. The products range from PERi-PERi sauces, PERinaise, PERI-PERi Salt and marinades.
