Sizzler plots Australia return

The casual restaurant chain was brought back by the Minor Hotels group.

Iconic casual dining chain Sizzler is set to return to Australia, six years after closing its doors.

According to news reports, the Minor Hotels group plans to reopen the chain at the upcoming new NH Collection Hotel in the coming months. Plans included rolling out the brand in hotels or stand-alone.

The NH Collection Hotel is $55m new-build, upscale property set for completion in 2026 and is located at 102 - 106 Robey Street, Mascot, just seven kilometres from the Sydney CBD and mere moments from the Sydney International and Domestic Airports.

Sizzler was owned and operated by Collins Foods from 1985 until it decided to close it in 2020. In 2023, Minor International Public Company Limited (MINT) acquired the 100% stake in US restaurant chain Sizzler from Singco Trading, which owns the intellectual properties worldwide, except for the US, Puerto Rico, and Guatemala, for SG$21m ($23.38m).

The brand was last seen in Australia when it partnered with The Coffee Club in 2024 to launch its Sizzler Cheese Toast in a limited-time pop-up.
